The Sit Chat

Hi everyone,

My name is Benedict Tokau Warwakai. And welcome to my Sit Chat blog.

I am from East New Britain Province, one of the New Guinea Islands Provinces here in Papua New Guinea.

The Sit Chat blog is an initiative to focus on assisting disadvantage youth in the community where I live, in my province and in the greater hope that other disadvantage youths in my country can have access to that opportunity as well.

For the last twelve years (12 years), I have been engaging around a lot of youths in the catchment where I live. Many had a lot of miss opportunities to excel with education, to showcase their talents, and thus left out from community recognition. As a result, their future had no hope.

After being a President for the East New Britain Students Association at Divine Word University in 2009 I was so lucky enough on becoming a youth animator in 2012, and was groom and raised by the Catholic Youth Archdiocese of Rabaul, and to develop that natural personality to live around youths, many whom were disadvantage young men and women.

Through the Archdiocese of Rabaul Catholic Youth Office, we were able to groom youth leaders, some of whom became youth animators too. At the surrounding communities and through the mission approach of the Archdiocese we were able to engage with a lot of disadvantage youths.

We ran youth programs, youth conventions, retreats, and other needed programs that suit the needs of disadvantage youths.

In the midst of 2014 I became a family man. Despite being a married person and no longer participating in youth programs with the Archdiocese, I manage to pursue my natural ability of being a youth animator in my personal life, and to remain firm building youths and making sure they grow to reaching their utter fullest potential in life.

By the year 2021, I have become a living testimony to see many of the disadvantage youths between the periods of 2012 and 2015 (even up to 2021) whom we nurtured, groomed, raised, coached and trained have become to reach their full life potential. They have reached a life of TOTAL INDEPENDENCE and FREEDOM.

Some Disadvantage youths have

Pursue Education

Pursue Self Employment

Pursue employment with companies, business and public service

Have fixed their dark past moments, and living a new life with a bright future

Married with strong family life

Leaders in their own ways

Single, Independent, and Valuing Life

Join Religious life

Assets to community Life

Become Youth Animators

Pursuing bigger dreams

Witnessing the reality of the disadvantage youths who had gone through youth programs until to what they have become today is the most satisfactory and even unbelievable experience. I am always thankful to the good Lord, as being a youth leader at that time, I have seen the fruit of the Archdiocese intention and what it had desires in the life of every youth.

I am disturbed a lot in my every day walks of life, thinking about the youth leaders whom we pursue youth programs and engagements together. I always pray that God continue to build their full potential.

With my experience I have started the Sit Chat to broaden further engagements with other disadvantage youths online and through social media (Sit Chat Facebook page). I also have videos on youtube that talks about youth life and understanding stages of youth life. In that way, through social and online interactions we can help disadvantage youths to reach their full potential.

Life may not be perfect for all of us. Life is all the time unfair. But our desires, our dreams, our talents, our abilities and our potential is unstoppable once we reach our full potential.

Good or bad, God created all of us for a reason. And that reason is seeded deep within us. Through Sit Chat you can have the TOTAL INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM to build your future.
